Ancol is a family-owned and family-run business. Founded in 1971 by Ann and Colin Lane, Ancol was originally a manufacturer of superior quality leather collars and leads for dogs. The range developed to include items for cats and coats for dogs, and other pet accessories soon followed.

Today, Ancol has over 2,000 different articles in the range and is rapidly growing! The success of the company has always been based around honesty and integrity along with an appetite for new and exciting product development.

With retail sales eclipsing £30m and worldwide distribution, Ancol have strived to remain a family business and maintain the values and principles that were there from the very first day.
It is our mission to make the best quality treats for your pets to enjoy; everything that we do in our human grade factory is done to ensure this. Some things you will see, some things only your pet will know (unless of course you’ve tried the treats yourself!) and some things you just wouldn’t have thought about. We want to tell you about them because they are all important to us.
FINEST INGREDIENTS

We source all the ingredients ourselves using approved suppliers and strive for ethical and sustainable produce. Our meat is farmed in Britain which has some of the highest farming and animal welfare standards in the world. The farms we source from are Red Tractor accredited, and our fish is sourced from MSC accredited suppliers. It is human-grade and we only use fresh meat with not an ounce of meat meal on site.
LEAD SAFE VENISON

We are very careful about the cuts of wild venison that we use and take every effort to make sure the meat is not tainted with lead which can be emitted from bullets. We undergo a thorough lead testing programme which involves laboratory analysis and metal detection of the raw meat, followed by metal detection of the finished product. We can assure you that our treats fall well below the legal levels of lead permitted in complementary food by FEDIAF.
HANDMADE WITH LOVE

Each product we make involves at least 10 points of manual intervention and expertise. We are proud of the fact that our treats are lovingly handmade by our knowledgeable team who always strive for perfection.
GENTLY AIR-DRIED
​
We have developed our own bespoke drying system which slowly and carefully dehydrates our treats to a safe moisture level, preventing bacterial growth. This method does not rely on heat so our treats are suitable for raw feeding. It also maintains the nutrients and flavours of the ingredients. The drying process can take anywhere between 3 and 7 days – so you see there is a lot of time, love and care that goes into making our treats.

This will always be a work-in-progress as we believe no matter how hard we try, there will always be room for improvement. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our impact on the environment whilst making sure we maintain product safety.
CHARITY & COMMUNITY SUPPORT

With our Innocent hound Bongo and Mash both being rescue dogs, we are committed to supporting rescues and charities. We have a zero-waste treat policy and in 2018 this allowed us to send almost 400kg of treats to animal rescues and charities around the UK - that's a lot of waggy tails! We also support the local community and are thrilled to be working with Easi Works, supporting adults with Autism and learning disabilities. We like to think that we make rewarding treats for your pets, but for us, this part of our business is just as rewarding!

Danish Design has the bottle to tackle plastic
Following a long-standing position of recycling over 90% of our waste, we are now proud to be using 100% recycled fibre in the manufacture of our beds. This recycled PET flake is produced by shredding plastic bottles, which are then cleansed and heated to produce a liquid that is forced through a sieve to produce a thread that forms a fibre once cooled. This fibre can then be processed through our carding facility at our factory. By switching to PET recycled fibre we can ensure that around eight million plastic bottles a year are stopped from reaching landfill, our natural environment and the oceans.

We use quality meat across our whole range with absolutely no nasties, just nutritious fruits, vegetables and botanicals.

We want you to have peace of mind in your choice to feed your pet Nature’s Variety. That’s why we’ll always be clear and open about our ingredients, our sources, our processes and how we’re improving our impact on the planet.
All our pottery is hand made, hand glazed and fired in our kilns in our small workshop based in the Cotswolds. We work closely with UK potteries in Stoke on Trent who make our bisqueware before we add our signature designs and portraits.
Each item is individually made to order and the process can take up to 14 days to complete. The process is slow as each piece is carefully painted in our studio before being hand glazed then fired in our workshop to create the finished product.
We only use non toxic materials and every item is safe for animals and humans . Our pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, although we recommend hand washing as this avoids the harsh chemicals in dishwasher tablets that are quite abrasive.
Mason Cash has been the choice of home cooks and bakers for centuries. The origins of Mason Cash can be traced back to a pottery operating at Church Gresley in the heart of the English ceramic industry in 1800. Church Gresley was located close to all the raw material and fuel sources required to make ceramics and had fantastic transport links to take finished goods all over the UK and the world.
The pottery produced kitchen items made from ‘white and cane’ glazed earthenware sometimes known as ‘yellow ware’ due to the colour of the local clay, or ‘bargeware’ as it was
packed onto barges and sent to market.

The pottery was run by a series of Master Potters of whom the most colourful was ‘Bossy’ Mason, which is where the ‘Mason’ name came from in the 1800’s. Tom Cash acquired the pottery in 1901 and renamed the company Mason Cash & Co.

Mason Cash had been producing mixing bowls during the 1800’s, but in 1901 they designed and manufactured the very first iconic Mason Cash mixing bowl. The design of the bowl has endured the test of time and has become something of a design classic. In fact, the design has barely altered since then, which is why the brand is still renowned for its innovative, classic kitchenware today.
